Robert B. Martin of Leominster

November 14, 1943 – June 12, 2022

 

Loving husband, father and papa passed away Sunday, June 12 after a brief illness.

Robert was born in Ware, Massachusetts son of the late Joseph and Stephanie Martin (Mertzic) of Barre, MA.

He served as an altar boy at Saint Joseph’s Parish in Barre, and graduated Class Valedictorian from Barre High School in 1961. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Robert was a member of the Townsend / Luneburg Rotary Club, and served as club president for two years.  He retired from Don-Jo Manufacturing in 2015.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Karen Martin (Ward) and three daughters Tricia Comeau and husband Keith, Jennifer Allen and husband Michael, Amy Getty and her significant other Daryl McKnight; two grandchildren Riley Brown and Sydney Getty all of Leominster, Two brothers Francis Martin of Worcester, MA and Ronald Martin of Clinton, MA, three nephews, three nieces, and many special friends.

He is predeceased by his brother James Martin of Milford, NH. 

Bob was known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor and good cooking. He enjoyed reading, camping with his family, and spending winters with his friends in Myrtle Beach, SC. He loved watching the Boston Red Sox and was an avid golfer. 

A funeral service for Robert will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 12 noon in the Richardson Funeral Home 106 West St. Leominster. Calling hours will precede the service from 10-12 noon. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
