LEOMINSTER----Robert T. Padovano, 88 years old, of Leominster, died Saturday January 16, 2016 in New Horizons at Marlborough.

Robert was born March 10, 1927 in Leominster, the son of Anthony and Maria (Caffoni) Padovano and was a lifelong Leominster resident. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1945. He was a graduate of Becker Junior College, and studied 2 years at Clark University. He was also a US Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his high school sweet-heart and loving wife of 66 years, Lorraine (Beaudoin) Padovano, his daughter Rhonda Ollquist and her husband John of Sudbury, two sons, Mark Padovano of Fitchburg and Thomas Padovano and his wife Jeannemarie of Bolton, his grandchildren, Emily Ollquist Kee and her husband Cameron, and Daniel Ollquist, and Lauren, Michael and James Padovano, and his sister Vilma Culnane. He was predeceased by his sister, Lydia Perreault.

Robert was employed for 30 years, by the former Star MFG Co, a family owned business in the manufacturing of infant toys, where he became president. He later worked in industrial sales of corrugated containers for 23 years, retiring in 1999.

He enjoyed golfing and was a past member of Oak Hill Country and Monoosnock Country Club. He spent many winters in Florida taking part in organized group golf teams. He also enjoyed painting and was a member of the Leominster Art Association. He was a dedicated musician from the age of 12. He played saxophone in the US Army Band and played in “Group 70” and in other local bands. He also played the piano and enjoyed amateur composing and song writing.

Robert was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Anna Church. He was chairman of the first 3 year financial drive for the building fund of St. Anna’s Catholic School. He was a Eucharistic Minister, assistant to the Scout Master of Troop 13 of St. Anna Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sons of Italy Society.

He was a very devoted husband to his wife of 66 years, and his children and grandchildren.

Robert’s funeral will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home 106 West Street, Leominster, with an 11 am funeral mass in St. Anna Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Leo’s Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 6 pm-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Anna’s Building Fund, 199 Lancaster Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
