Robert A. "Bobby" DiNardo, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 91 in his hometown of Leominster, MA, after a battle with illness. Born on January 14, 1933, to the late Antonio and Anna (Ciampia) DiNardo, Bobby's life was marked by his unwavering spirit, his love for adventure, and the joy he brought to those around him.
A proud veteran, Bobby served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, demonstrating the same bravery and dedication that he would carry throughout his life. After his military service, he returned to Leominster, where he was deeply rooted in his community and formed lasting relationships through his work at Banner Mold Tool and Die and associations with the Sportsman Club.
Bobby was the beloved brother of the late Lydia Dellorco, Rita Lancey, Pelino "Billy" DiNardo, and Raymond "Shine" DiNardo. He is survived by his devoted sister, Clara, and her husband, Umberto Longo, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, who will miss his presence and the warmth he brought to every family gathering.
An avid fisherman, Bobby could often be seen trolling the area lakes, a testament to his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. His annual fishing trips with friends were a source of countless memories and stories, particularly the legendary 48lb. lake trout he caught at Lake Abernal, Canada. This tale, was one that he joyously shared for years, a narrative as grand as the fish itself. Bobby's passion for horse racing was matched only by his enthusiasm for games of chance. He spent many an afternoon at the track, relishing the thrill of the race and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His love for gardening and cooking was another facet of his life, often surprising family and friends with homemade delicacies like sausage, pizza, sauce, and his prized fresh trout or oregano.
As much as he loved his hobbies, it was the time spent with family and friends that Bobby cherished most. His visits were never empty-handed, always arriving with a token of his garden's bounty, candy or the racing sheet to “pick a race”. All gifts from his generous heart.
Bobby spent the past few years residing at River Terrace Health Care Facility, He enjoyed sharing conversation and time with the residents and staff. He was known to share his candy with all, especially those who were” working hard.” The DiNardo family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of River Terrace Health Care for their kindness, compassion and exceptional treatment of Bobby during his stay. As we bid farewell to Bobby, we celebrate the life of a man who was as memorable as the stories he leaves behind.
A fisherman's spirit now resting at peace, like the ripples on the lakes he loved so much, will continue to spread, touching the lives of those he knew and loved. Bobby DiNardo's memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held on December 2, 2024, 11:00 a.m. At St. Leo's Cemetery.
