Roland Dewey Booker III, 74, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away in late August 2025. Born in Willimantic, Connecticut in 1951, Roland was a longtime resident of Leominster and Fitchburg. He will be remembered as a brilliant light who loved learning, chess, and most of all, his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael J. Booker, who was married to Georgia G. (Barnes) Booker. Roland is survived by his children, James K. Booker, Robert L. Booker and wife Izumi (Seino) Booker, and Lori A. (Booker) Merriam and husband Jarred M. Merriam; and his cherished grandchildren, Kristina R. Merriam, Jaden J. E. Merriam, Chloe A. Merriam, Zoe A. Merriam, Yuna S. Booker, Evelyn G. C. D. Merriam, and Aubrey J. Merriam.
He is also survived by his parents, Roland D. Booker Jr. and Mona D. (Darling) Booker; his siblings, Julia G. (Booker) Going, Alan K. Booker, Sheila E. (Booker) Dow, and Ivy L. (Booker) Strauss; along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Saturday, September 13th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Richardson’s Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster, Massachusetts, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
Roland is loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
