Rose Marie (DelleChiaie) Palermo, 90, of Sherman Oaks, California (formerly of Leominster), passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2023.
Rose was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on March 22, 1933, a daughter of the late Vincent and Loretta (Lanza) DelleChiaie. She grew up in Leominster and attended Becker College. She stayed at home to raise her family until her youngest child was in school and then went to work as a secretary for Dr. Parnes and then as an administrative assistant at Union Products.
Rose was always in the kitchen cooking or baking for her loved ones. But she was best known in her family for sending cards to her loved ones for every occasion, always magically ensuring they arrived on the exact day. A loving mother and grandmother (“Nona”), Rose treasured her time spent with her family, especially her three grandchildren.
Rose was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, caring, and strong. So much so that at the age of 87, she decided to move across the country to California with her daughter and granddaughter where she loved exploring and spending time with them outside all year round in the sunshine.
She leaves her children, Angela Roberts and her husband, David, Vincent Palermo and his wife Norma Jean Palermo, of Leominster and Annmarie Sargent of Sherman Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Amanda Sargent of Sherman Oaks, CA, Travis Palermo, and Daphne Palermo both of Leominster. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas Palermo, and by her sister Mary Kelly.
She was an extraordinary woman who loved deeply and lived life with purpose. Rose was the backbone of our family and was always there when we needed her. She was a calming presence in times of trouble, and her hugs were a source of comfort in difficult times. Rose was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile would light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She was so kind and passionate. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
The family would like to thank the staff at Be Well Senior Living in Sherman Oaks, CA for all that they have done for her. Words cannot express how much we appreciate all of the care and love you provided.
The funeral will be held from Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 with a Mass in Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union St., Leominster at 11:00am. Burial will follow at St. Leo’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 15, from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request that a memorial contribution be made in memory of Rose Palermo to: Karen’s (DeCisero) Closet, PO Box 396, Leominster, MA 01453.
