Brothers and sisters, family and friends, we gather not in sorrow but in celebration of the life of Rose Tantillo, whose spirit ascended to the Lord's embrace on the 10th of February 2025. Born on the 2nd of March in the year of our Lord 1952, in the beautiful isle of Sicily, Italy, Rose blessed this earth with her presence for nearly seventy-three years. She departed from this life in Leominster, Massachusetts, surrounded by the love and warmth of her cherished family.
Rose was the embodiment of a faith-filled life, a gentle soul whose kindness knew no bounds. She was a beacon of love and friendship, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Despite the challenges she faced, Rose stood tall and proud, a testament to the strength and resilience of a woman of faith.
She graced the pews of St. Leo's Church with her heavenly voice, singing praises with a passion that could move mountains. Her love for music, especially the melodies of the great Engelbert Humperdinck, filled the hearts of many with joy and admiration. The songs she sang were not just notes and lyrics, but expressions of her indomitable spirit.
Rose's Italian heritage was a vibrant thread woven through the fabric of her being. She spoke the language as fluently as the native winds that dance through the olive groves of her birthplace. Her voice, when singing in Italian, was a bridge to her roots, a celebration of the culture and traditions that she held so dear.
In her journey through life, Rose's path was illuminated by her enduring love for David Harvie, her long-time companion and the love of her life. Though he preceded her in death, their love story remains a testament to the power of the human heart.
She leaves behind a family whose lives are richer for having been loved by her. Her brothers, Deacon Salvatore and Mary Tantillo of Leominster, and Santo and Carol Tantillo of Florida; her sister, Tina Carlantone of New York; nieces and nephews, John Carlantone and Gina of New York, Maria DeMartis of New York, Tara Tantillo of Leominster, Sabrina and Mark Pretone of New York, and Christian Tantillo and Rebecca of St. Louis, Missouri, will all carry the torch of her legacy. though her nephew Michael Tantillo preceded in her death, the bond they shared remains unbroken.
Rose's care for the elderly reflected the depth of her compassion, for she believed in the dignity and value of every stage of life. Her journey with epilepsy never dimmed her light; instead, it fueled her determination to make the most of every blessed day.
Let us remember Rose Tantillo not with tears of grief but with smiles of gratitude. For she was a woman who walked in the light of the Lord, who lived with a heart wide open to the world, and whose gentle spirit will forever be felt in the lives she touched.
As we bid farewell to our dear sister in Christ, let us hold fast to the memories that bind her to us. Her laughter, her song, her unwavering kindness—these are the gifts she leaves us. And in the quiet moments, when a melody drifts on the breeze or the warmth of the sun embraces us, we will remember her.
Rose Tantillo, a woman of faith, friend to all, has found her rest in the arms of the Almighty. May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
A memorial mass for Rose will be held on Friday, March 7th at 11am at St. Anna Church, 194 Lancaster St. Leominster. There are no calling hours.
