Rosilda Chappel Obituary

LEOMINSTER – Rosilda E. (Fluet) Chappel, 97 years old of Leominster, passed away on February 12, 2021 in UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster.

 Rosilda, the daughter of Hector and Helena Fluet, was born on October 18, 1923, in Barton, VT and moved to Leominster in 1941.

She leaves her son Norman L. Brooks and his wife Cindy of Princeton, her sisters, Terry Damato of Sun City AZ, Frances Rifkin of Coral Gables FL, and Lisa Wishnick of Sandpoint ID, her brother Paul Fluet of Granby MA, three grandchildren, Justin Brooks of Webster MA, David Brooks of Holden MA and Michael Brooks of Abingdon MD, six great grandchildren, Emmett, Isaac, Lucia, Everly, Gracelynn and Kaleigh, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Lloyd Brooks, and her second husband, Freeman Chappel, three of her sons, Donald, Dennis (the Bun) and Alan Brooks, her four brothers, Donat, Lucien, Larry, and Andre Fluet, and her four sisters, Yola Sheehan, Germaine Dubuque, Mary Bourque, and Jeanne Rothschild.

 Rosilda worked in various manufacturing companies in the Leominster area, including Commonwealth Plastic Corp, R & M Manufacturing, and Foster Grant Company, from which she retired. Afterwards she volunteered at Leominster Hospital in the Gift Shop and was a long time member of the Hospital Guild. She was also an active member of St. Cecilia Church in Leominster. She enjoyed sewing particularly making clothing for the children in Haiti, arranging flowers, crafting, and painting. Being very mechanically inclined, she would also scour yard sales searching for sewing machines to refurbish and then donate to missionaries.
