Rupert Rodrigues Obituary

Rupert Rodrigues, 77, of Leominster, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on
October 1, 2023, at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. He was born on January 20,
1946, in Bombay, India, to the late Henry and Margaret Rodrigues. He was the eldest of
five children and grew up in Ahmedabad, India. He attended St. Xavier’s Catholic School,
where he met many lifelong friends. He married his beloved wife, Veena Rodrigues, on
August 12, 1974. They had their first child, Monty Rodrigues, on May 13, 1975.

Rupert was a marketing executive who worked for several international companies in
India before he and his family moved to the United States in 1983. They first settled in
Louisiana, where their second child, Carl Rodrigues, was born on March 15th, 1984.
They later moved to Los Angeles and then to Massachusetts, where they made their
home for 30 years.

Rupert was a hardworking and generous man who owned and operated Sudzy Bubbles,
a small laundromat, in Leominster and Fitchburg for 25 years from 1993 to 2018. He
cared deeply about others and was a friend to many of his customers, whom he helped
with various needs such as visits to senior homes, tax preparation, and immigration
paperwork. He was also a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle.
Rupert enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching sports, and walking his dog, Isabelle.
He was proud of his sons’ achievements and happy to see them married and
successful. He played soccer growing up and enthusiastically followed the sport his
whole life -- a gift he gave to both of his sons.

Rupert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Veena Rodrigues; his sons Monty Rodrigues
(and his wife Krista) of Nashua and Carl Rodrigues (and his wife Danielle) of Boston; his
dog Isabelle; his brother Lionel Rodrigues (and his wife Cusum) of Chennai, his sisters
Selma Ghosh and Beryl Rodrigues of Ahmedabad; and many nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by his brother Oliver Rodrigues of Ahmedabad.

Richardson’s Funeral Home in Leominster, MA.

Donations can be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter or Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Holliston, MA (a Xaverian Missionary).
