Sally Thomas Obituary

Sally Ann Toko (Secino) Thomas, 89, was born on January 8, 1937, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts—sharing her birthday with Elvis Presley— passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026.

Sally was raised on Marshall Street in Fitchburg alongside her parents Oliva and Evelyn Toko, lovingly known as “Gumpy” and “Gummy” and her sister, Dana. She graduated from Fitchburg High School, Class of 1955, forming friendships and memories that would last a lifetime.

She married Dr. Richard Secino, and together they raised seven children on Country Lane in Leominster. Sally devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. Winters were spent skiing at Pheasant Run and throughout New England, and summers brought cherished vacations to Maine, Seabrook, and Hampton Beach. The most treasured times were simple ones—family meals and holidays gathered around the big table, filled with laughter, joking, and lively conversation.

Sally loved to entertain and was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of the Hospital and Dental Guild, a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church, and a Cub Scout leader. Her commitment to service and helping others was evident in all she did

Later in life, Sally embraced a new challenge by enrolling at Fitchburg State College. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. During her time there, she met the love of her life, George Thomas. They shared ten beautiful years of marriage before George’s passing.

Sally dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working with Montachusett Home Care, Health Alliance, Nashoba Nursing Services, and the Crossings and Highlands, providing services to the elderly.

She and her sister Dana spent many happy summers in Maine at Sea View South Camp Ground in Wells, Maine, and enjoyed traveling the world together. Among her many adventures, her favorite was an unforgettable African safari with her dear daughter, Polly.

Sally found joy in skiing, biking, gardening, quilting, and she loved babies. Her warmth, strength, humor, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.

She leaves behind her seven children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson, who will continue to carry her spirit in their hearts. Mitch Secino and wife Denise, Tom Secino and wife Colleen, Marty Secino and wife Melissa, and their two children, Cali and Nina. Cathy (Secino) and Gary Fagundes and her two children, Alyssa Riley, husband Paddy Dayton and son Kevin, Rick Secino, Polly (Secino) and Peter O’Donnell, their sons Danny and Chris, his wife Taylor, and their son Keahi, and her youngest son, David Secino, her sister, Dana Tusia, many friends, nieces, and nephews, and close family friend Andrew Cunningham.

Sally’s life was a beautiful testament to family, faith, service, and love. Her smile, humor, goofiness, outgoing spirit, willingness to chat with anyone who would listen, and kind heart will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
