LEOMINSTER --Salvatore "Sal" Louis DiForte, 55, of Leominster, MA passed away Wednesday morning on June 7 at Wachusett Manor in Gardner, MA. Salvatore was born in Fitchburg, MA on July 7, 1961, the son of Louis and Vincenza (Amico) DiForte. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1980.
He was a member of St. Anna's Catholic Church in Leominster. Sal was a kind, gentleman who will be missed greatly. He was Honorably discharged from the Army, trained as an Armored Tank Driver. He worked for many years at Banner Mold in Leominster and opened up a Hobby Shop in downtown Leominster in the early 90's. He was the President of Mid-State Antique Auto Club from 2013 to 2016 and a member of the club for many years. Sal has always loved cars, especially the old mopars, going to cars shows, enjoyed sports and spending time with his family. Sal also volunteered his time umpiring little league baseball games.
He leaves his parents, Louis and Vincenza (Amico) DiForte of Leominster; brother Michael DiForte and sister Lisa DiForte of Leominster and her boyfriend Jeff Bonin; nephew Michael DiForte and great-niece Baylee DiForte of Winchendon, MA.
Sal was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Michele and Rosina (Salerno) Amico and paternal grandparents Salvatore and Salvatrice (Cardinale) DiForte.
Sal’s funeral will be held on Monday, June 12 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a Mass at 10 am at St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 11 from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home
A get together will be at the Leominster Veteran’s Center, 100 West Street, Leominster after burial.
