Scot Stephen Norman, age 75, passed away at home, on January 22, surrounded by members of his family.
Born on November 12, 1950, Scot lived a life marked by kindness, curiosity, and deep devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Crum Norman; his daughter Kelly Shaw and her husband Jason, and their children Lilly, Wyatt, and Phoebe; his son Adam Norman and his wife Sarah Hlibka, and their children Isabel, Emma, and Anna. He is also survived by his brother Bill Norman and his wife Barbara Norman his sister Lorrie Petersen and her husband Ron Petersen, his sister-in-law Debra Sadak, and several nieces and nephews.
Scot was preceded in death by his father Frank Norman, his mother Anne O’Brien, and his brother Frank Norman Jr.
Scot graduated from St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School in 1968 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in History from Fitchburg State University in 1973. He enjoyed a successful professional career with Digital Equipment Corporation and Fresenius Medical Care.
Outside of work, Scot found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid cyclist, hiker, and camper, with a particular love for the Appalachian Trail and the ocean. He was also an enthusiastic reader and held a lifelong fascination with the NASA space program, especially during the 1960s and 1970s.
He found great joy in spending time with his six beautiful grandchildren and was always their greatest fan while attending their sporting events and performances.
Scot will be remembered for his kind nature, his genuine interest in others, and his willingness to engage in thoughtful conversation, particularly with those he had just met. His warmth, intellect, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM in Slattery's Restaurant, 106 Lunenburg St., Fitchburg, MA .
