Sheila Flood Obituary

Sheila Ann Flood (Mullaney) passed away May 4th, 2026 at the grand age of 92, just a few short weeks from her birthday, June 22nd, 1933. She was the daughter of Paul Mullaney and Exilda (Doris) Melanson. Fiercely independent, she lived on her own in Leominster, MA where she was born and raised.

After graduating from St Bernard’s High School in1951, she graduated from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, class of ‘54 as a Registered Nurse. She kept her license valid for years after retirement. She worked for the VA early in her career and was a devoted volunteer for The Red Cross.

Sheila married Donald A, Flood and had three children, Kathleen A. Odell, Daniel A. Flood and Robert A. Flood. Robert predeceased her in 1999. Living the life of an Air Force wife, moving around was pretty constant for 13 years before divorcing in 1972. During that time, she traveled from GA to Castle AFB, Merced, CA where Kathleen was born. A short 6 months later drove across country to Limestone, ME, Loring AFB, where Daniel and then Robert were born. Sheila raised 3 Irish triplets, all born in March, a year apart. After ME the next move was to Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico, just in time for the Cuban Missile crisis. Followed by moves to Rome, NY, Griffiss AFB and then to Chicopee, MA, Westover AFB and then to Portsmouth, NH, Pease AFB. After divorcing she moved back to her home base of Leominster, MA.

Sheila always enjoyed her Irish heritage, sidelining her Canadian half. It was a treat listening to her tell stories of her Irish ancestors as she imitated their Irish brogue. She was an avid reader and history buff, always loved to learn new things. She always approached life with humor and grace. She will be missed by everyone left behind including 8 grandchildren. Tiffany Flood, Samantha Korf, Alison Odell, Stuart Odell, Jennifer Flood, Grace Odell, Kelly Flood and Mckenzie Flood, as well as her great grandchildren, Marley and Hank Cashman, Hayden and Hudson Korf and Kylie Montana.

A private ceremony will be held at St. Leo’s Cemetery.
