Sin-Man Ma Obituary

Sin-Man Ma (Teresa), 74, of Leominster, MA passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family.

Teresa was born in Hong Kong, China on December 28, 1949. She married Jimmy Chan and raised three beautiful children, Emily, Gary and Sandra. After she lost her husband to cancer, she witnessed the love of God and became Catholic in 2004. In 2008, Teresa made the bold move to the United States in order to help look after the granddaughters from her youngest daughter, Sandra.

Teresa was an independent and determined woman. Her resilience to deal with challenges in life had been an inspiration to her family and friends. She was a tinkerer, always figuring out a way to fix things. She was a fighter who didn’t complain in face of adversity. Throughout the three years of her battle with cancer, she continued to care for the family. Her Chinese culinary skills were renowned among family and friends. Her dishes were not just a treat to the taste buds but also an expression of her love and care.

Teresa was a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Parish. She enjoyed spending time with her family and tending to her vegetable garden. Chinese mahjong with her family and friends was her all-time favorite.

Teresa was a devoted wife, mother, “maa-maa” (paternal grandmother) and “poh-poh” (maternal grandmother). She loves her children, Emily and her husband Eddie, Gary and his wife Joanne, and Sandra and her husband John. She cherished her role as a maa-maa to Esther, and a poh-poh to Tanya, Kasper, Amelia, Sabina, and Hannah. Her devotion to her grandchildren has left them with a legacy of loving memories.

Her family and extended family in Hong Kong and in the US, especially Judy and Jack Haley, and Evelyn Mak, will remember Teresa for her boundless love and the special moments they shared.

The funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 3, at 11 A.M. at Holy Family of Nazareth Parish, 750 Union St., Leominster. Please go directly to Church. The burial at St. Bernard’s Cemetery will be private.
