Stephen “Stevie” Brassard, a beloved brother, uncle, and great-uncle, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at Leominster Hospice, with his sister Doreen at his side. He was 73 years old.
Born in Leominster, Massachusetts, on January 24, 1952, Stevie lived a life filled with adventure, loyalty, and an ability to connect with others.
Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Ernest, Stevie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army at the young age of 17. He was stationed in Thailand as a combat engineer, contributing to the construction of vital bridges, roadways, and landing strips.
After his military service, Stevie worked for Rockwell Roofing from 1978 to 1982. A serious injury unfortunately prevented him from continuing in the roofing and construction field, but it did not diminish his spirit. He transitioned to a career as a truck driver, a profession he embraced wholeheartedly, describing it as a constant adventure and an opportunity to explore the beauty of our country.
Stevie possessed a unique and enviable talent for encountering celebrities. His apartment walls served as a testament to those occasions, showcasing photographs of him alongside numerous stars. He even had the memorable experience of appearing as an extra in a film starring Courtney Cox during the 1980s.
Beyond his professional achievements and celebrity encounters, his greatest legacy lies in the impact he had on; and how he connected with- his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, and for his steadfast faith in Jesus that carried him through this long struggle.
Stevie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sisters, Doreen Barbaro, Joyce Bilodeau (Henry), and Suzanne Smith (Lorenzo). Many beloved cousins, nieces, especially Autumn and Carrie Barbaro, who were so vital in his care these past months, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and numerous friends, especially his best and loyal friend, Steve Galletta. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Ernest and Corinne (Gionet) Brassard, brother, Ernie and niece, Sara Smith.
Our family extends our gratitude to all the nurse, who lovingly cared for our brother from Beacon Hospice, especially his favorite nurse, Gina Boisse.
