LEOMINSTER---Steven Andrew Menchi, 63 years old of Leominster, died unepectedly in his home on Thursday, April 8, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia (Carrigan) Menchi; his mother, Claire (Nassano) Menchi of Leominster; daughter, Marina Proietti of Fitchburg; sister, Gail Comeau and her husband, Alan of Leominster; stepdaughter, Kathleen Russell of Fitchburg; stepson, Luke Russell of Worcester; granddaughter, Sadie Proietti and step grandson, Jarran Elliott, Jr. Steve is also survived by two nieces, several grandnieces and a grandnephew. He was predeceased by his father Clevio Menchi in 2006.
Steve was born in Weymouth on August 6, 1957 and grew up in Leominster. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1975 and attended Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner. He loved playing baseball.
Steve worked at the family-owned Diadem Plastics in Leominster and then became the founder and president of Plastic City Mfg. He spent his entire career in the plastics industry.
Steve was a member of the Leominster Lodge of Elks and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Leominster. Steve was an avid “do it yourselfer”. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop and was always ready to help with a project.
Steve was a devoted father and grandfather. Marina and Sadie were the center of his world. He enjoyed coaching Marina’s softball team, taking Sadie fishing and swimming and spending as much time as possible with them. He was looking forward to Sadie’s first year of softball.
He loved good times at the Cape, Fort Pond in Lancaster and Lake Wyman in Westminster. He enjoyed playing bocce, cribbage and golf.
Calling hours will be held April 23rd from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. The funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leominster Lassie League, P. O. Box 362, Leominster, MA.
