Vang Neng Thor, 75, passed away, peacefully at UMASS Memorial Medical Center on May 2, 2021. Vang was born on May 5, 1945. A veteran turned refugee of the Secret War in Laos, he immigrated to America in 1979.
Vang came to America with nothing but a young family and a white plastic bag that held those precious documents declaring their path to a new life. He settled in Massachusetts, where he raised 6 children with his wife, La Lee. Vang enrolled in ESL classes and learned enough English to get by. He helped to establish the Hmong Christian Fellowship of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Fitchburg, MA where he remained an active member. Vang worked as a Molder for several years at Sterilite Corporation in Townsend, MA until he retired in 2010. After the passing of his wife in 2011, he remarried Youa Vang, whom he leaves behind. He is survived by one brother, Young in Minneapolis and two sisters, Ger and Lee in California, his six children: You, Xenglong, Tong, Donny, Chung, and Susan, and four stepchildren in California: True, Chime, Ker, and Blia. He also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Vang will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Richardson Funeral Home on 106 West St. in Leominster, MA from 8 to 11:30 am. Burial will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Fitchburg, MA at 12:00 pm.
