Virginia C. Maunder, 89 years old, of Leominster, died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Sterling Village Rehabilitation Hospital in Sterling after an illness. She is survived by her daughter, Carol J. Cacciapouti and her husband Brian of Grafton, and her 3 grandchildren Sarah, Tessa and Caden all of Grafton. She was predeceased by her husband Willim F. Maunder and brothers Earle and Richard Smith.
Virginia was born in Salem, daughter of Earle and Edna (Little) Smith. She graduated from Marblehead High School and Salem State and received a master's degree from Framingham State. She was a home economics teacher in Salem and Holyoke where she met and married William F. Maunder. The couple moved to Leominster, MA where they became active members of Leominster United Methodist Church. Virginia and William were married for 44 years at the time of his death. Virginia was a talented quilter and taught many in the area how to quilt, was involved with many community organizations including Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, and the Leominster Historical Society.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 24 from 9 - 11 A.M. in the Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to MA/ NH Alzeheimer's Association or to the Leominster Public Library, 30 West Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
