William B. Marien, known affectionately as Billy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on September 9, 1947, in Leominster, Massachusetts, Billy recently retired back to Leominster after living in West Palm Beach, FL for the past 40 years.
Billy was a proud graduate of Leominster High School's Class of 1967, where he formed many lifelong friendships. His career path took him into the world of heavy machinery, where he excelled as a consultant for Komatsu and as a skilled heavy equipment operator. His expertise and work ethic were widely respected, and he often shared his knowledge generously with colleagues and newcomers alike.
Married to the love of his life, Donna Marien, Billy was a devoted husband, a supportive brother, an adored stepfather, and a doting grandfather. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness. His brother Bobby Marien and sister-in-law Sandra of Leominster, MA, stepdaughter MaryJane Bourgault and her husband Shawn of Fitchburg, MA, stepson Rick Martel and his wife Jaclyn of Las Vegas, NV, along with his cherished grandchildren William, Emma, and Jillian Martel of Jacksonville, FL, and Jenna Bourgault of Fitchburg, MA, will forever hold dear the memory of his unwavering support and love.
Billy also leaves behind a close-knit extended family, including his nephew Jason Marien and wife Sandra of Leominster, MA, niece Deidre Joyce and husband Thomas of Leominster, MA, and nephew Bobby Marien Jr. of Leominster, MA, all of whom will miss his presence dearly. His family gatherings were always filled with laughter and stories, often featuring Billy's latest fishing adventure or his recounting of a particularly enjoyable round of golf.
An avid golfer and fisherman, Billy found joy and relaxation on the greens and by the water. His happiest moments were often spent with a fishing rod in hand, or a golf club poised for the next swing. Billy's love for the beach was well-known, and he reveled in the simple pleasure of feeling the sand between his toes and the sun on his face. However, nothing compared to the time he spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Billy was a man of many virtues. His loving nature was evident in every relationship he nurtured. He was known for his kindness, always willing to lend a hand or an ear to those in need. His handy skills were a source of pride and were often called upon by friends and family. Billy's ability to fix anything that was broken was matched only by his capacity to uplift spirits and bring joy to those around him
His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his warmth and spirit will continue to live on through the countless memories he created with all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Billy's life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and community.
As we bid farewell to William B. Marien, we celebrate a life that exemplified the best of us. His legacy will be cherished and remembered, not only by his family but by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Billy's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the stories of his love, kindness, and handy workmanship will continue to inspire us all.
In honoring Billy's life, we reflect on the joy he brought to our lives and the difference he made in our world. He will be deeply missed, but the impact of his time among us will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Billy. Your memory will forever be a beacon of light for all who knew you.
