Yvonne N. Leger, a beacon of loving kindness, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, in Princeton, MA, at the age of 89. Born on July 26, 1935, in Fitchburg, MA, Yvonne's life was a tapestry of joy, woven with the threads of family, friendship, and the simple pleasures of life.
Yvonne's early years in Fitchburg were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, which continued to be a theme throughout her life. She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her daughters, Cheryl Dumont and Brenda Lepp, will forever cherish the memories of their mother's unwavering support and boundless love. Yvonne's sister, Karen Morand-Hunt, and her husband, Marty Hunt, along with her brother, Norman Descarreaux and his wife, Laura, will miss her deeply. She was a guiding light in the lives of her grandchildren—Natalie Carlson, Renee LeBlanc, Ryan LeBlanc (children of her late son Kenny LeBlanc), Danielle Brown, and Nickalus Lepp—as well as her great-grandchildren, especially the newest joy in her life, 9-month-old Felix, who was the subject of her daily conversations. Her niece, Nicole Olson, and her nephew, Garrett Morand, niece Sheri Kulow and and nephew Denis Descarreaux will also hold dear the special bond they shared with their aunt Yvonne.
Yvonne's presence was a gift to all who knew her. She was often the first to arrive at family gatherings, never empty-handed, and the last to leave—ensuring that every moment spent together was cherished and every goodbye was heartfelt. Her love for spontaneous or planned events with family and friends was a testament to her belief in the importance of nurturing relationships. She found joy in the laughter that filled the room during card games and took pleasure in the serene moments spent at her beach cottage, where the sound of the waves matched the tranquility in her heart.
In the company of her great nieces and nephew, Yvonne found delight in the innocence and wonder of youth. Her kindness touched their lives, as she gently imparted the wisdom of her years while embracing the energy of their youth. These moments were a source of great happiness for her, and her legacy of love will live on in these young hearts.
Yvonne N. Leger's journey on earth has come to a peaceful close, but the echoes of her laughter, the warmth of her embrace, and the generosity of her spirit will be felt for generations to come. Her story is not one of an end, but a beautiful reminder that love endures and the bonds of family are eternal.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 30, at 11am at the Pieta Chapel in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA.
