LEOMINSTER --- David G. Vargo, 61 years old, of Leominster, passed away on August 3rd 2017. He is survived by his father and mother, Francis and Theresa (Montaquila ) Vargo of Leominster, his brother and sister-in -law, Dr. Frank E. Vargo and Cindy (Pirro) Vargo of Leominster, and his niece Erica Vargo of Leominster, and her fiancé Jacob Arsenault. David’s wife of 33 years, Genevieve L. (Floyd) Vargo, passed away on March 26, 2017.

David was born in Leominster on August 2nd , 1956, and he graduated from Leominster High School in 1974. He completed an undergraduate degree in political science, an associate degree in law enforcement, and an associate degree in medical technology from the College of the United States Air Force. David lived with his wife for many years in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where he had a career as a police officer for the Charleston SC, police department. He retired honorably from law enforcement in 2012, and subsequently returned to live in Leominster upon that transition in his life.

David also had a distinguished military career that spanned over 23 years, primarily as a highly trained and well respected medical flight specialist in the United States Air Force. His many contributions to his country in those capacities included his serving honorably in a war time theater during Operation Desert Shield of the Gulf War of 1990. David retired with honors and awards from the U.S Air Force as a high ranking non-commissioned officer.

David was a kind and loving individual, who was deeply loved by family and friends. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial mass for David will be held on Saturday, September 9th at 11am in St. Anna Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will be at a later date. The Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster is assisting the family with arrangements.
